Scott D. Fleming

Bio

Scott Fleming is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Memphis. He directs the Human-Oriented Software Engineering Lab, where he works to advance our understanding of how people create software and to design tools and techniques that help them do so more effectively. This research spans the areas of human–computer interaction, software engineering, and computing education. His work has appeared in top-ranked conferences and journals, such as CHI, FSE, TSE, and TOSEM, and he has received 3 best paper awards. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation as well as industry collaborators, National Instruments and ABB. He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Michigan State University in 2009. He worked as a post-doc researcher in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University from 2009 to 2011. He also holds a Master’s in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s in Fine Art from Western Michigan University (awarded in 2001 and 1999, respectively).
